Traffic Basics (lesson)

This is a one-hour motorbike training lesson to get you started on Vietnamese traffic.

Tigit will spend around 20 minutes practicing in a quiet area to get you started on the motorbike. However, this lesson is not designed as a beginner’s course on driving a motorbike or a manual motorbike.

The aim of this lesson is to get you some experience in Vietnam’s different and chaotic traffic. Hopefully, to give you some confidence on how the roads work here before sending you out on the long journey.

If you can’t drive a manual motorbike, we will give you a crash course, but staff will be quick to downgrade your motorbike to a semi-automatic if you don’t make progress. This is entirely due to safety reasons.

After you are comfortable with your motorbike, the lesson will take you on roughly a 45-minute journey around the city traffic. The teacher will stop at key intersections and crossroads to explain what is going on. 

You will slowly follow the teacher, while learning the angles and speeds that the Vietnamese drive at.

By the end of the lesson, you should feel comfortable enough to depart the big cities of Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi while being somewhat familiar with your new motorbike.
